How Old Am I? is a 26 minute video installation designed to be exhibited on three separate, different sized monitors. It’s not possible to replicate the three monitor experience here but the short extracts below consolidate all three videos on to one screen to give you a flavour of the work.

Introduction

Jean is 90 years old. Until recently she lived alone in the house that she has called home since 1958. Jean’s sofa is a ship from which she navigates the world, and so long as there is tea, then all is well.

Jean is my aunt, and I am her only living close relative in the UK. In 2020 Jean began to experience symptoms of dementia and I found myself unexpectedly thrust into the role of sole carer.

How old am I? is about Jean, her changing world, and our unique time together.
