As far back as 2012 Theresa May MP highlighted the full scale of the hidden world of domestic abuse in a Home Office report. Yet today in 2026 nothing much has changed. 

In England and Wales between 2024 – 2025

• 2.2 million women aged 16 years and over experienced domestic abuse.
• 1.8 million women over the age of 16 were a victim of rape or attempted rape.
• On average, a woman is murdered by a man in the UK every three days. This equates to approximately two to three women per week.

Shocking though these figures are, the real indicators of domestic abuse are not found in facts, statistics or Home Office reports. The actual evidence is imprinted physically, emotionally and psychologically on every victim.
